The Chevrolet Truck

This 1929 Chevrolet truck was purchased new from the Bulls Head Motor Co. in Scranton, Pennsylvania on November 9, 1929, for $650.00. The bed was custom made to accommodate two layers of vegetable baskets. The original purchaser of the truck was Mr. Harry W. Hopkins of Schultsville, Pennsylvania. Mr. Hopkins was the father of Edward C. Hopkins of Falls, Pa., the present owner of the truck. The truck has been in the family all of its life and was used for more then thirty years. The truck was transferred to Edward C. Hopkins in February 1989 from Mrs. John J. Babb of Jackson, Miss., a daughter of Harry W. Hopkins.

Mr. Harry W. Hopkins was awarded the honor of Master Farmer in 1939. This is the highest honor given to a farmer by the state of Pennsylvania. In addition to requiring the highest proficiency in agriculture, the award also recognizes the recipient's family, his participation in community affairs such as school and church, and of course, the condition of his residence, farm buildings, farming equipment, etc.

The logo on the truck door has been restored to its original form. This logo also appeared on the tissue paper Mr. Hopkins used to wrap tomatoes.

In 2019  Bill Hopkins of Hopkins Farm with permission from his late Grandfather (Edward C. Hopkins and late wife Helen owners of Indian Oven Farm & Greenhouse) adopted the Logo that is part of the history of our farming family.

In early 2020 Bill and Leanne purchased Hopkins Farm from owners E. Harry and Ruth Hopkins. Harry started the farm in the early 1970's.

Bill and Leanne along with their children, daughter Samantha and son Andrew, along with his wife Jennifer and their children Ayrianna and Axel are working hard to keep the family tradition alive, while using tried and true methods and also new techniques and innovated ideas.
